1. Atreyapuram pootharekulu
Atreyapuram is another well known village in East Godavari district which is famous for pootharekulu sweets. There will be no single person in Telugu states who doesn’t like this.
The festival favourite sweet is prepared by wrapping dry fruits and nuts in a wafer-thin rice starch layer resembling paper. Atreyapuram pootharekulu are even exported to foreign countries from the local shops of the village.

2. Tapeswaram Madatha Khaja
Tapeswaram is a village in East Godavari district which is famous for Madatha Khaja sweets. In fact if you google search the word Tapeswaram, the search engine will show Madatha Khaja images.
Madata khaja is a traditional layered sweet recipe prepared from maida or plain flour. This delicacy is served in almost every marriage ceremony in Andhra Pradesh.
3. Adavinekkalam Mamidi Tandra
Mamidi Tandra, also known largely as Aam papad is a fruit leather made out of mango pulp mixed with concentrated sugar solution and sun dried. Though Mamidi Tandra is made India-wide in many factories, our East Godavari people makes it at home which gives it a unique taste
Adavinekkalam village in East Godavari district is the largest producer of Mamidi Tandra in South India and famous for its unique taste. They also export it to many countries.
4. Bobbarlanka Kobbari undalu
Kobbari Undalu takes their origin from Bobbarlanka, a village in East Godavari district. The coconut-based dessert is made with grated coconut and jaggery and topped with dry fruits. East Godavari people fondly call it as Kobbari Lauz. The shelf life of this sweet is rather less as it is made with fresh coconut. So one must consume it as soon as they make it or purchase it.
5. Mukkamala Pappu chekkalu
Pappu Chekkalu or Rice Crackers is a very famous savoury dish in Andhra Pradesh. It takes it origin from a tiny place in the Godavari, Mukkamala, hence the name. This savoury dish is prepared with rice/rice flour and some spices. Some people also make it with chana dal/split dal. Very light on the stomach, this is a great tea-time snack option.
6. Mandapeta Bellam Gavvalu
Mandapeta village from East Godavari is a home for a delicious sweet known as Bellam Gavvalu. The sweet is made with a mixture of rice flour and milk and the dough prepared is rolled into the shape of shells and then deep-fried in oil or ghee. Once they are cooled down, they are rolled in a thick sweet syrup made with jaggery. The crunchy sweet delicacy is full of ghee and goodness.
7. Katthipudi karakajjam
Kathipudi is famous for its Karakajjam. The sweet-dish which is made with Boondi is usually prepared during festivals or as an offering to God. The sweet is made by mixing Boondi with a thick sugar syrup made of jaggery and sugar. It is then set in required shape and consumed once the syrup is cooled down. The sweet is crunchy, tasty and the best hunger saviour.
8. Bendapudi Bellam jeellu
Bendapudi is famous for a unique sweet called Bellam Jeelu. It is candy or toffee-like food item which is loved by both Adults and kids. Jeellu (Jeedi for singular) is made by melting the jaggery in water and then allowing the jaggery to cool down till it gets hardened. The jaggery is then cut into tiny cubes resembling a candy as in the image. They are also rolled in Nuvvulu or sesame seeds which is called as Nuvvula Jeedi.
Jeellu are locals favourite and are being made from many years. However they are not that famous outside Andhra Pradesh.
