In order to extend WhatsApp Pay in India, WhatsApp has finally obtained all the requisite approvals and permits. The news comes at a time when a 30 percent limit on the total amount of UPI transactions for third-party applications from next year was declared by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).
Over 160 banks, including ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, the State Bank of India, and Jio Payments Bank, help WhatsApp Pay. The feature is baked right into WhatsApp and with a supported UPI app, you can send money to anyone.
Tap the ‘Payment’ button on WhatsApp to start using WhatsApp Pay, or select ‘Payments’ from the vertical three-dot button in the top-right corner of the home screen. The process is equivalent to setting up every other UPI app and includes connecting your bank account as the method of payment.
