Water has started receding from some parts of Hyderabad even as heavy rainfall has caused severe water logging in parts of the district. At present, the death toll in Telangana owing to the very heavy rainfall stands at 50 that includes 50 deaths in Hyderabad.
Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has announced rupees 5 lakh as compensation for each family of the deceased.64 relief camps have also been set up for the destitute and the shelterless around 45 000 food packets have been arranged for 44,000 people.
Meanwhile, the chief minister has declared that due to heavy rains and flash floods, the state suffered losses to the tune of Rupees five thousand crores. The chief minister has urged the center to release 1,350 crore rupees immediately for the rehabilitation and relief works. The chief minister wrote a letter in this regard to prime minister Modi. However, the IMD has predicted two days of rains today and tomorrow in Telangana although no rains have been witnessed since yesterday.
